Needle
sensation - most people feel a slight sensation as the needle goes through
the skin, no worse than a prick with a sewing needle. Then as the needle
goes into the acupuncture point a momentary slight ache can be felt.
Our image
of Acupuncture is that needles are left in the skin at different places all
over the body. (This is the only way you can take a photograph of the
process)
In fact the
Acupuncture needles are often inserted singly, turned and then removed
straight away.
I can also
use point stimulators, and Electro-Acupuncture which involves applying a
minute imperceptible electric stimulation to the needle, this method is
frequently used for pain relief.
Sometimes
Moxabustion
may be applied to the needle handles.
I will
discuss with you any procedures that I am going to use and demonstrate them.
I will make you feel as comfortable as possible with the Acupuncture
techniques used.
Pain is
relative, and everyone is different. However I am happy to let you try out
how a needle feels, before coming for treatment
I find that
even completely needle phobic people find that Acupuncture is OK.
