Usually patients contact me and then
come in for a free 20-30 minute chat. |
 |
If patients wish to come for a course of
treatment, we arrange dates. |
 |
The first visit is called a Traditional
Diagnosis; it lasts 2 hours and includes a treatment. |
 |
During the diagnosis part I take a full
health history, including all previous medical treatments and a family
health sketch. |
 |
The skilled Traditional Acupuncturist
takes pulses, looks at tongues and make other subtle observations to the
patient. |
 |
I will also do Western diagnostic tests
such as Blood Pressure and a Diabetes test, as well as examination of
physical problems. |
 |
The 2ND hour is taken up by
the treatment. |
 |
Treatment involves the insertion of
superfine needles (as fine as a hair) into Acupuncture points located in the
muscle seams. |
 |
Patients experience a slight sensation |
 |
As the needle enters the skin a
momentary feeling of pressure or tenderness when the needles are removed
- there is no real lasting discomfort. |
 |
Contrary to popular belief the needles
are not necessarily left in - they can be inserted turned and removed
immediately. |
 |
After the first session weekly
treatments then commence, and are usually 45mins - 1 hour long. |
 |
Patients generally budget for about 6
consecutive weekly treatments. |
 |
Treatments are then spaced out one every
fortnight, 3 weekly, monthly etc... |
 |
Patients often find that the Acupuncture
gives them such a sense of well being. That they like to come for a regular
top up, once a month or so. |
 |
Obviously every person is an individual,
and all treatment plans are tailored to each person, the outline here cannot
be an exact guide. |
 |
The number of treatments you will
require can vary according to how long you have had the condition, or how
acute your symptoms are, what type of problem you have. |
